Our Lady of the Pines - A chapel built in 1952-53 to fill the religious needs of the local Copper Harbor residents and the many tourists who visit every summer. Beauty in Simplicity was the theme and a Finnish log building was constructed by Victor Oja of Mohawk. From local Mandan logs and rocks from the area, Mr. Oja also handcrafted the pews, holy water fonts and some of the sanctuary furniture. Mass - 10am -June 30th,2007 thru Labor Day.2008 |

Holy Redeemer - Of all the mission churches in Keweenaw County, the stately white structure at Eagle Harbor is perhaps the most famous. Father Baraga began visiting this area in 1846 to preach to the settlers and Indians. After his appointment as the First Bishop of the Upper Peninsula in 1853, He sent Father Henry L. Thiele to Eagle Harbor to serve the parish and the church. It was built in 1854. Mass - 10am -June 30th,2007 thru Labor Day.2008 |
